Journalists from China and Central and Eastern European countries have called for more exchanges to deepen mutual understanding. The call came after reporters attended a roundtable in northern China's Hebei Province on Tuesday. Huang Yue has more.

Journalists from 14 Central and Eastern European countries including Hungary, Serbia and Bulgaria gathered in Hebei for the roundtable discussion.

For many, it was their first visit to China, and they say they've found a country much different from what they've seen portrayed in Western media.

And that's why they're calling for more people-to-people exchanges between China and Central and Eastern European countries, to enhance mutual understanding and to eliminate bias.

During the two-day visit, the group had conducted a joint interview at the Shijiazhuang International Land Port, where they witnessed a China-Europe freight train leaving for Hungary.

MARTON BONIFAC BREM-NAGY Journalist from Hungary "I know that we will see a train departing, but I didn't know that it's departed to Hungary. I think most of the European people don't get any firsthand experience in China. It's a really different picture in the normal European people's mind about China."

DIME RATAJKOSKI Journalist from North Macedonia "I think that in Europe, especially in my country area, they are not so familiar with what is happening, not only in China, than in the Asian world, in global. Being here means a lot. Not only for me in person, but also for the readers and the viewers that are going to see my articles to represent China in a real light."

They reporters also visited Wuqiao County in Hebei, known as the birthplace of Chinese acrobatics.

Listed as China's national intangible cultural heritage, Wuqiao acrobatics has a history of 2,800 years.

Its acrobatic troupes have travelled around the world for performances, including to European countries. Huang Yue, CGTN, Wuqiao County, Hebei Province.
