China Media Group (CMG), one of the major media outlets in the country, held an online ceremony to donate its advertisement resources to central China's Hubei Province, hit hardest by the COVID-19 pandemic in China.
Shen Haixiong, president of CMG and vice minister of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, attended the event along with Ying Yong, Party chief of the Hubei Provincial Committee of the CPC.
As an important measure to bolster Hubei's economy, CMG decided to donate advertisement resources worth 500 million yuan to Hubei, aiming to help enterprises resume production and boost consumer confidence in "made-in-Hubei" products.
The enterprises seeking these services for free must meet two requirements. First, they must be hit hard by the pandemic; second, they must play an instrumental role in regaining the province's economic vitality.
The first batch of the advertisements for eight products will broadcast starting Monday, and the remaining advertisements for 35 products, covering industrial, cultural and tourism products and services, will air on multiple CMG channels until December 31.
Ying said that donating advertising resources to Hubei will further enhance the province's popularity and reputation, boost nationwide consumer confidence in Hubei's products, maintain the smooth flow of its sales channels, and stabilize the supply and industrial chains.
Shen in his speech said that Hubei's victory over COVID-19 has moved the people of China. The donation of advertising resources for marketing high-quality products from Hubei is a specific measure adopted by CMG to deeply study and implement the spirit of Chinese President Xi Jinping's important instructions on elevating the economic and social development of Hubei.
"With strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee, the hard work of Hubei people, and concerted efforts of the people of the whole country, we will surely continue our fight and win the new battle for Hubei's economic and social development," the CMG head added.
The media outlet also launched other campaigns to shore up Hubei Province, which have hitherto sold agricultural products worth about 400 million yuan online and provided nearly 100,000 jobs for fresh graduates of Hubei.
