BEIJING, April 25 (Xinhua) -- An emerging "Study in China" trend among international students embodies China's increasing confidence and openness to promote cultural exchange and common development.

China has become a major destination for international study. In the 2024-2025 academic year, more than 380,000 students from 191 countries and regions pursued degree programs, research, or training at various educational institutions across China, an increase of 15 percent over the previous year, official statistics show.

The advantage of studying in Chinese universities is evident in many aspects.

In recent years, China has made significant strides in modernizing its education system amid sustained economic growth, steadily expanding its global network of educational cooperation, and enhancing the international competitiveness of its universities.

At the end of 2025, China had 373 cooperative educational institutions and programs offering postgraduate degrees or higher, including 69 that provide doctoral programs.

Efficient and convenient measures have supported the "Study in China" trend. China has optimized policies to streamline entry and stay procedures for international students.

Meanwhile, this attractiveness is further reinforced by the accelerating internationalization of Chinese cities, where multilingual services are available in administration and public services.

And another very important factor is that China is one of the world's safest nations.

"Study in China" has become a brand that China actively promotes to advance educational exchange. Studying in China provides a vital opportunity for global youth to engage with an authentic China that is increasingly open, confident and vibrant, and share in its development dividends.

In line with its strategy of building a leading country in education, China aims to become a globally influential education hub, fostering connection and integration across diverse civilizations and making fruits of educational development better serve the building of a community with a shared future for humanity.
