China just wrapped up the 15th National Games — the country's premier multi-sport event. This year's edition drew global attention not just for thrilling performances, but for what unfolded beyond the field.

From humanoid robots as "torchbearers" to AI-supported operations, the Games showcased China's digital strength. Meanwhile, the first-ever joint hosting by Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao also stood out — with events crossing the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge, and demonstrating seamless coordination under "one country, two systems".

More than breaking records, it offered a fresh look at China's development — serving as a revealing lens on modern Chinese governance in action. For more on how this event offers a glimpse of "Chinese governance", especially as the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) will be implemented from next year, read this editorial by Global Times.
