China Media Group (CMG) and the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Sunday announced that they will deepen strategic cooperation in various sectors.

Under a framework deal signed at a ceremony in the region of south China, CMG and Macao will engage in close cooperation in areas such as news reporting, talent exchange, international communication and sports events.

Addressing the ceremony, Macao SAR Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai said cooperation with CMG will help Macao enhance its international communication capabilities and accelerate the building of Macao into an exchange and cooperation base with Chinese culture as the mainstream and diverse cultures coexisting.

By doing so, Macao and CMG will jointly write a brilliant chapter in the successful practice of "One Country, Two Systems" with Macao characteristics, said Sam.

Shen Haixiong, president of CMG, said CMG and various sectors of Macao have once again launched multiple significant collaborations, including on documentary making and tourism routes of historical sites in the region.

That will help facilitate the region's better integration into the national development landscape, said Shen.

Zheng Xincong, director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao SAR, said the cooperation agreement between CMG and Macao will establish an important platform and play a significant role in telling Macao's stories to the world.

It will also provide new impetus for CMG to become a world-class, new-type mainstream media group with strong leadership, extensive reach, and profound influence, said Zheng.
