The Media Roundtable of China and CEE Countries, hosted by the International Liaison Department of the All-China Journalists Association, was held today in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. Over 40 media representatives from China and 14 Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries gathered to exchange insights and engage in discussions on the theme “The Responsibilities of Media in the Age of AI.” Wu Xu, Secretary of the Secretariat of the All-China Journalists Association, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech.
On May 22, the Media Roundtable of China and CEE Countries, hosted by the International Liaison Department of the All-China Journalists Association, was held in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province.
Against the backdrop of the AI era, media representatives from both China and CEE countries engaged in in-depth discussions on a range of topics, including the transformation of traditional media, media credibility, industry standards, social responsibility, and talent competition. Chinese media representatives also shared their experiences on the innovative application of AI in journalism.
Participants noted that AI technology has brought transformative opportunities to the media industry, while also giving rise to new risks, value disputes, and governance challenges. In response to the opportunities and risks posed by AI, participants emphasized the importance of enhancing communication and collaboration, uphold journalistic ethics, strengthen multilateral dialogue, and seize the opportunity AI presents to drive media transformation. They called on the media to fulfill its responsibility and contribute to building a better world through powerful communication. Participants also put forward constructive proposals for cooperation on the development of the “International Home of Journalists” initiative. They expressed hopes of strengthening international exchange and technological collaboration to ensure that the media industry continues to uphold truth amid transformation and embraces the future through innovation.

The Media Roundtable of China and CEE Countries is an important brand event for media exchanges under the China-CEE cooperation framework. Before and after the roundtable, the China-CEE Cooperation Secretariat and the All-China Journalists Association jointly organized a media delegation visit for journalists from CEE countries. The delegation conducted themed reporting in several Chinese cities, including Beijing, Xi’an, Ningbo, Shaoxing, and Hangzhou.
