BEIJING, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- People's Daily, the flagship newspaper of the Communist Party of China, recently announced the establishment of a research institute on the development of smart media.
The institute is expected to boost the application of artificial intelligence in news gathering, production and distribution.
Leading domestic telecom and technology companies such as China Mobile and Alibaba as well as experts from prestigious universities including Peking University and Tsinghua University will also join the institute.
Along with the debut of the institution, the newspaper has introduced several smart media products, including the latest version of its mobile app and a new short video app.
