The Southeast Asian Media Greater Bay Area Tour kicked off on Sept 2 in Guangzhou, attracting over 30 reporters from mainstream network media outlets from countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Themed around "A dynamic Bay Area embracing global cooperation", the tour is expected to last for one week and showcase the rapid development in Bay Area cities.

Xu Hua, deputy director of the Guangdong office of cyberspace affairs commission, said the Greater Bay Area and the Southeast Asia region enjoy unique geographic location, as well as possess complementary advantages in economy and trade.

Xu added that he hoped the tour could deepen Southeast Asian people's understanding of Guangdong's socio-economic development, as well as boost cooperation and communication between the two areas.

Cao Dahua, deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, introduced Guangdong's achievements after the launch of the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in Feb 18.

Zhang Chunqing, associate editor of southcn.com, co-organizer of the event, said that he expected to carry out more bilateral cooperation with Southeast Asian media.

During the tour's stay in Guangzhou, the delegation visited several landmarks, such as Yongqing Fang and the Cantonese Opera Art Museum, to experience the charm of the city. Other cities in the province such as Dongguan, Shenzhen, Zhongshan, and Zhuhai will also be included in the tour.
